FAQ's

We know what it can be like, stepping into a new situation can be a little bit unnerving. Particularly if you are unsure about what you’re stepping into.

Hopefully, this list of frequently asked questions that we’ve put together will demystify what you can expect when visiting us at Northshore Church. And if you don’t find what you’re looking for here, please, contact us via email or phone and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

What should I wear?
At Northshore Church, you’re welcome to wear whatever you’d like. Basically, wear what you’d be comfortable in if you were going out to eat or going to watch a movie. Just be you, you’re welcome to come just as you are.

What will the worship service be like?
We follow a basic pattern of worship that is traced to the earliest days of the church: We pray, and sing songs of praise to God. We read the bible and study it’s truth. We take time to consider our lives and actively, symbolically respond to God. We share food together and fellowship with one another.

The structure, however, isn’t rigid. You won’t have to worry about knowing what to do next. The atmosphere is relaxed, upbeat & true to life. The music is led by a live band and our services incorporate graphics, video & other media to communicate the message of Jesus. The goal through it all is to experience the reality of God, to know God and to be encouraged to live the eternal life He proclaims.

What does the pastor talk about?
The sermons at Northshore Church are designed to be practical in nature. The truth of the bible is timeless but we aim to present it in an engaging, easy to understand format, in 21st Century language free from the “thee’s” and “thou’s” of a different age.

How long does church go for?
Our worship service commences at 6:30pm and will formally conclude at 7:45pm each Sunday evening. We then have our free café open for coffee, tea and an assortment of sweet treats whilst we get an opportunity to talk and meet new friends.

How can I find out more about the church?
Simply fill out a Communication Card that is available from an usher or the information table on the way into the theatre and you will be mailed more information.

What about my kids?
Children are most welcome. We love that family can come and worship together. We do, however, have specific children’s ministry for kids up to the age of 12.

For Babies, a discrete area is available for “Mums and Bubs” during the service. For Toddler and Pre-school children a crèche is available during the service. For ages 5-12 we run Shout Kids, which is a fun, energetic, creative program that teaches kids the truth of Jesus Christ.

Kids are registered prior to the main worship service and then begin in the service with their parents / guardians before breaking out into their programmes approximately 20 minutes into the main worship service. For parents’ convenience, Shout will continue until 15 minutes after the end of the main worship service.

What kind of a church is this?
We are a Christian Church. In some ways we are similar to some churches and different to others. We do have a definite set of beliefs that reflects historical, biblical Christianity. We are part of a network of Australian churches, AOG and the Australian Christian Churches, that are some of the fastest growing in Australia.

How can I get involved?
There are so many ways to get connected at Northshore. During the week or on the weekend, whatever stage of life you are in, there are opportunities for you to get connected to the life of the church. From discovering new friends, to using your gifts and talents, to using your creativity or getting your hands dirty through service anyone is welcome to participate in the community of our church.

What if I’m not used to going to church?
You are the reason Northshore exists. If you’re not used to church, then some things will be new for you. But that’s ok, as invariably there is a reason for why things happen as they do. There’s a certain mystery to worship that brings us to the edge of the awesome and wondrous vastness of God. Yet with experienced and trustworthy worship leaders, we can enter into the mysteries of God in peace. It is this peace of God that the scriptures say “surpasses all human understanding.” So whilst worship will not necessarily have an immediately familiar feel for you, we hope through our leaders, your friends and any questions you have you will begin to appreciate and understand the joy of worshipping Jesus.

Will I fit in here?
Of course… The exciting thing about a new church is that everyone is new.
