Northshore News

I can feel the warm, late winter sun...

As we come to the end of August I can feel the seasons begin to change.

The warm later winter sun is out and the days have been beautiful. And as things warm up there is a sense of re-invigoration taking place around us.

The seasons are beginning to change.

Can you sense it?

I am sensing a change in seasons for us as a church as well. As we move from August winter into September spring, so too I believe we are ready to change gears and come into a new season of what God is doing in our church and lives.

Spring is a time of new life arising out of that which is dormant. I look around our local community and I see a lot of things dormant, spiritually.

But spring is the season of new life blossoming forth! Won’t you take a moment, right now, to pray quickly and ask God that He would send us “new lives” in this season? Let’s be specific and ask God to use us to see lives changed through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Let’s be bold, church and see with His eyes what He wants to do in and through us in this NEW SEASON.

All Nations Christian Church, Maylands

As we announced to the church Northshore has agreed to take the leadership of All Nations Christian Church in Maylands.

Our goal is to provide leadership and ministry to the people of All Nations with the purpose of building the church and see it make an impact in the Maylands / inner city area.

We are excited about this challenge and opportunity to build the kingdom of God.

2008 - a Year of Great Things in God

Week before last we shared some of the key initiatives for the year ahead, 2008. We have an expectation of great things in God this year and through some amazing testimonies are beginning to see some of that already (hint: check out our mp3’s if you missed them!).

Why not remind yourself about our VISION for 2008 by by downloading the Vision file here (.doc file).

Let’s be in prayer for an incredible break-out year ahead!

2008 - The Promise of a NEW Year!

Last night we kicked off a new year in style at NORTHSHORE. I have such a positive sense for this year and the Word I believe we have from God formed the basis of what I shared with you.

Unfortunately, technical problems meant last nights message was not recorded. Because I believe last night’s message will be a foundational one for NORTHSHORE in 2008, we have instead been able to post the message notes here.

Feel free to download them (.doc file) and allow God’s word to permeate your heart as you meditate upon the areas the Holy Spirit wants to accelerate your growth in 2008.

What's Happening around Northshore?

Hi there church,

Just a reminder if you want to stay up to the minute with what’s going down at NORTHSHORE then shoot an email to me at psbruce@northshorechurch.com.au and we will add you to our weekly Northshore News email list. Not only is it a great way to stay in touch with what’s on at church, but you’ll also get a weekly dose of inspiration from the Word of God. What more could you want? (don’t answer that!).

Have a great week Church.

Church Camp is this Weekend

Hi Church – just a reminder that we are off to camp this weekend. It’s going to be a great time to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and relax in the greenery of the south-west.

Camp will be a time to strengthen relationships, recharge the batteries spiritually and break the routine. If you are not yet registered, there are a couple of places still available so email us asap so you don’t miss out.

Also our usual Sunday Night church service will not be on this Sunday due to camp. We will however return to our usual service on 7 October. Have a great week.

NEOS is THIS Sunday

One of the fun nights on our calendar is our NEOS night. This Sunday we are celebrating Father’s Day with a NEOS extravaganza!

What is NEOS? Neos means new and we are wanting to introduce as many new people to Jesus through a new way of doing church. We will have plenty of food, plenty of fun, and a great multi-media and music presentation of the gospel.

We have designed NEOS specifically for your family member, your friends, your neighbours, your contacts to come and enjoy themselves, breaking the ice if they’ve never been to church before and presenting the good news in an accessible format.

I’d encourage you, make the most of this opportunity to go out of your comfort zone and invite those people on your heart to spend Father’s day with us.

Borroloola Offering - This Week

Don’t forget this coming Sunday – July 29th – we will be receiving a special offering for our missions trip to Borroloola in the Northern Territory.

We are aiming for $10,000 which will provide for the materials and equipment for the work we will be doing for the church there, plus cover the expenses in getting the team there.

You can bring your offering or write a pledge amount which you can give by the beginning of September.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give into a great outreach at the aboriginal people of Borroloola, NT – let’s all get behind this effort and make the most of this opportunity.

NORTHSHORE Commitments for June

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to remind you of our need as a church to commit ourselves in this season to a time of Prayer and Fasting, Worship and the Word.

The reason we are doing this is to repent of our me-first ways and to focus in upon the glory of Jesus and mission for this world. It’s exciting and I pray you will join with us in this.

Here are some resources for you in this month of seeking God:
> Prayer and Reading Plan (.doc)
> The Power of Fasting (.doc)
> Worship Resources (iTunes link).

Catch the Vision!

I am excited about what I see God doing in our midst. We are seeing people regularly respond to the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, we are seeing an increased sense of the presence of God when we meet together, and we are sensing an increased stirring in our hearts about where God is taking us as a church on His mission.

This week I will be sharing what God has placed on my heart for our church. I want us to look at the opportunities that are before us to reach people with the gospel, I want us to see together the direction that God is drawing us in and I also want us to see what this means for each of us individually.

Make sure you join us THIS SUNDAY (27th May) to catch the vision for our Church. Have a great week – see you Sunday!

New Series - This Week - RHYTHM

Who’s had this conversation? “How’s things?” Answer: “Busy”. It’s almost expected, that life is busy and if it’s not then somethings wrong!

A busy life can either be a blessing or a curse. If you’re busy doing the things you enjoy, with purpose and meaning and you are not neglecting important relationships or your health then that’s a great thing.

But if you’re just busy – your life is hectic, you can never quite get your life on an even keel, and never get to the things you want to get to – then somethings got to change.

I believe living for Jesus is the best possible life, and that involves finding a healthy rhythm for life that will see you fulfilled, full of purpose and full of energy for the road ahead.

Don’t miss Rhythm, starting this Sunday night at Northshore!

This Week - NEOS at Easter

Hi everyone, can I say how genuinely excited I am about this week’s easter event – NEOS!

Easter is OUR time of the year as Christians. We get to proclaim the good news about Jesus life, His death and resurrection, and the radical difference He makes in your life and mine. What could be better?!

I want you to make a special effort this week to commit to making this Easter particularly memorable. Let’s pray and invite our friends and family who don’t know Jesus like never before! It matters. It’s important – because they matter and are important to Him.

See you there at 6:30pm for an incredible night. Have a great week!

No MP3 from last weekend

Hey everyone – just wanted to let you know, due to a technical error, we don’t have an MP3 available from last week’s service. Apologies if this mucked you around.

The LORD of the RINGS

Hey, what are you doing this Sunday night? Nothing, great. Why don’t you come down to Mindarie Senior College off Anchorage Drive in Mindarie for NORTHSHORE Church’s new series LORD of the RINGS.

Have you seen the movies? Well it’s got nothing to do with that. It’s about marriage. Did you know 90% of people get married? That makes it an important topic for us to hear what God says about it.

I’d love to see you at NORTHSHORE Church this week, 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College for the LORD of the RINGS.

A Big Sunday!

We had a great day yesterday. FIRST it was Baptisms down at the beach, THEN in the evening we kicked off our new series REVIVE.

Down at the Baptisms the weather was perfect and there a big crowd of people who wanted to be a part of the event which created a wonderful celebratory atmosphere. A few good conversations were sparked as people wondered what was going on and a couple of beachgoers came up to say that is was cool to see Baptisms at the beach.

Then we kicked off our new series REVIVE – igniting a white hot faith. If you missed it, grab the mp3 and listen to it, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you as you do. Mediocrity is not a fruit of the Spirit – that’s why we need the reviving work of the Spirit of God poured out in our lives.

This Sunday is Baptism Sunday!

This Sunday is a milestone Sunday. Why? Because this Sunday is Baptism Sunday at NORTHSHORE Church.

Join us on Sunday 11th February, 11am at Quinns Beach for our first Baptisms of 2007! It will be a great day down at the beach and I encourage everyone to come out and support those making a public profession of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Bring a BYO BBQ or picnic lunch as we celebrate this great occasion. See you there!

February is getting HOT!

It’s summer and we know it’s hot but at NORTHSHORE the year is just heating up! This coming Sunday we have with us Ps Dave Reardon, Director of Youth Alive WA – an amazing ministry reaching thousands of young West Aussies each year. You don’t want to miss it, it promises to be another great night at church.

See you at Mindarie Senior College, at 6:30pm!

ALSO: Mark in your diary our Baptisms at Quinns Beach at 11am on Sunday 11th February.

Summer @ NORTHSHORE

You don’t want to miss the start of 2007 at NORTHSHORE Church! We are launching a new, new year inspired series – RISKING IT ALL.

Are you a new years resolver? Do you enter a new year full of hope? dread? indifference? Come and hear what God wants for you this year and set your life on the trajectory that He wants.

See you this Sunday, 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College.

No Service this New Years Eve

Just a quick reminder to everyone &NORTHSHORE will not be having a service this Sunday, which is New Years Eve.

We pray your New Year will be full of God’s richest blessings. See you at church Sunday night, January 7th.

Join us for Christmas Eve

Christmas is really upon us – there is that busyness and excitement in the air. And we want you to be make Northshore part of your Christmas Eve.

We are holding our Christmas service this year on the night of the 24th December – same venue, same time! You do not want to miss Church this week as we culminate the end of our Season X series and celebrate the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ.

See this Sunday night, 6:30pm at Mindarie Senior College, Mindarie!

The X in Xmas is Jesus

Last night we kicked off our Season X series with a straight down the line message on why Jesus is the only way.

We showed a video we filmed on the street and it was a graphic reminder so many people around us have absolutely no certainty about where they will spend eternity. It’s heartbreaking.

Christmas is not just another religious holiday, it’s a celebration of the coming of our one and only saviour. It’s something truly worth getting excited about.

Season X continues this week at NORTHSHORE. Make sure you join us at Church this Sunday 6:30pm

THANKS!

Last night we had our fantastic Gratitude service. The music was lively, the atmosphere was positive and the Word was great – it was a great night! We topped it off with expresso coffees courtesy of Expresso-to-go which had everyone extending their nights out into the warm summer air.

But the great services don’t end there! This week we launch into SEASON X – a Christmas series designed to unravel the mysteries of the X in Xmas. It will be a fantastic series to invite a friend along to. So join us at Church this Sunday 6:30pm and don’t miss it!

Gratitude Service

Church, I am really looking forward to this week’s service. It’s our annual Gratitude Service; a great time to thank God for all He’s done in the past year and a chance to look forward to the coming year and what we believe God will do.

God is so good and I believe it is so important to take time out to celebrate His goodness. I honestly believe if we don’t consciously take time to thank God for all He’s done we miss the opportunity to build our faith and cultivate a humble attitude of appreciation.

No one likes a proud, ungrateful jerk. Especially God. Let’s celebrate with Gratitude all our God has done! Join us at Church this Sunday 6:30pm and don’t miss our special surprise at the end of the service!

Lots going on!

Hi everyone, there’s lots going on at Northshore in the next month at a bit and here’s a reminder of it all:

> PRAYER – this Wed night 7:30pm, 11 Orara Way, Merriwa
> We launch The SUNDAY SESSION youth ministry on Dec 3rd!
> BAPTISMS – if you are a follower of Jesus and have not been baptised, here’s your opportunity – contact Ps Bruce with your name today!
> Season X is our Christmas series, and in it we demystify the X in Christmas. Jesus, the cross, heaven – what does it all mean?

We’d love to see you this week at church Sunday night 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College with our special guest Vaughan Willis. It will be another great night.

Church Together THIS SUNDAY

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder we are meeting with all the churches in Perth this Sunday for Church Together. That means our usual Sunday Night service will not be happening.

Instead please meet at Mindarie Senior College at 5:45pm to head down to the Supreme Court Gardens, Perth together. Or you can make your own way there.

Church Together is a great opportunity for us to join together with the body of Christ in this city to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, His life, death and resurrection.

I encourage you to come along and be apart of the action.

Chazown Part 1

The first MP3 for our exciting new series Chazown is now available at our media centre.

I’m very excited about this series because I believe when we get a hold of what it is God has us hear for – when we get focus for our lives – we live fruitful lives and lives that make famous the name of Jesus.

Chazown (Khaw-zone) is the Hebrew word for vision and without vision (chazown) people perish. This series will help each of us unlock and focus our unique God-given Chazown for our lives.

I love to see God change lives so I encourage you to make sure you’re there again this Sunday as we discover our Chazown together.

Join us at Mindarie Senior College, 6:30pm this Sunday night

NOTE: We are selling the book Chazown, by Craig Groeschel for $10 (it’s $20 at Koorong).

Join us for Chazown

This Sunday we commence an exciting new series – Chazown.

Chazown is the Hebrew word for vision and without vision (chazown) people perish. This series will help each of us unlock and focus our unique God-given Chazown for our lives.

As a church we desire to see God change lives, so join us as we seek to understand our purpose here on God’s earth.

Join us at Mindarie Senior College, 6:30pm this Sunday night

The Final Week of the God of Miracles

This Sunday we kick off our finale for the God of Miracles. If you know someone who is in need of prayer or is seeking a breakthrough, bring them down to Church this Sunday. Take a step of faith and see what God might do!

It promises to be another fantastic week of worship, inspiration from the Word of God and a great time spent over coffee and cake with friends. See you there, Mindarie Senior College, 6:30pm this Sunday night!

The God of Miracles

This week we commence a new series called The God of Miracles. Faith comes by hearing God’s truth the bible tells us, so make sure you join us this week as we hear from the Word of God the truth about God’s power to save, deliver and heal.

God does still move supernaturally in the world around us, and it is His desire to do so in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Often though, we don’t believe it, preferring to embrace the lies of the enemy than the truth of the Word of God. By doing this we empower the lie and remain captive to it. Is it any wonder we don’t witness more of the miraculous.

Join us over the next three weeks as we teach the truth about the supernatural and as we pray for those needed a miracle from God. Sunday nights, 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College.

PRAYER: Coinciding with the God of Miracles is our House of Prayer meeting, this Wednesday (13th) and the next 2 after it. We breakthru through prayer – we’d love to see you there!

It will be a great night, so make sure you don’t miss it!

PSWednesday night is HOUSE of PRAYER night. See you there.

Winning the War on your Kids' Futures!

On Sunday we kicked off our special August long series – Operation Parent – with a great service. Ps Malcolm Smith from Teen Challenge WA joined us and shared with us some of his experiences in seeing the gospel rescue young people from lives ruined by life-controlling problems.

Concern for their kids future – finding the wrong sort of friends, making the wrong decisions, being distracted by the wrong issues – is what afflicts so many families in our community.

We, however, believe there is hope in every situation through the sin-destroying effects of Jesus Christ’s life, death and resurrection. In a practical and real way there is true HOPE through Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

Why don’t you get on board and ring some friends with you this week as we continue Operation Parent at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

Jesus' Nano Plan

Nanoscience is the study of things at the nanoscale – the microscopic, the molecular, the miniture and most fundamental level.

Jesus has a Nano plan for humanity – the salvation and redemption of the earth. But just as Nanoscience takes something that might be huge and examines it at the base level, so too can we take Jesus grand plan and look at it on the Nanoscale, because it is there that Jesus chooses to operate.

Jesus’ plan for the salvation of humanity is accomplished at the Nanoscale – individual people like you and me. Even though in the grand scheme of all creation and eternity we are minute, Jesus chooses to use us to accomplish His purposes. What an exciting statement!

How does Jesus do this? Listen to the mp3s from the past two weeks and find out. Then join us this Sunday as we continue the Nano plan of Christ. See you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

PS: Our month of prayer continues! Join us Wednesday night for House of Prayer, 7:30pm.

Nano Begins!

This past Sunday we began our new series Nano – the power of small. Nanoscience is the study of things at the nanoscale – the microscopic, the molecular, the miniture and most fundamental level.

Jesus has a Nano plan. His plan for humanity – salvation and the populating of heaven – is huge. But it is accomplished at the nano level; the level of the most basic, most foundational elements – individual people.

Jesus is calling you and I to be a part of this Nano plan for humanity – the assembling of people submitting to the work of the life transforming gospel in people’s lives.

Join us this Sunday as we continue to preach what it is to live in the Nano plan of Christ. As always it promises to be great night. See you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

PS: Keep praying church! Join us Wednesday night for House of Prayer, 7:30pm.

July - a month of seeking God

As a church it’s our belief we exist to bring glory to our God. God desires to lead us, teach us, shape and mould us and speak into our lives. He’s calling us to Himself.

We want to respond to this call and the call to reach our community be focusing this month of July on seeking God’s face in prayer and fasting.

If Northshore is your home church it is my sincere prayer you join us in this:
> Our Weekly Prayer MeetingsHouse of Prayer – Wed nights
> Daily prayer promptersdownload them here (.xls)
> Fast – give up something of value to you in order to focus that time on God (.doc)

Let’s press in to God together!

Reminder: This week we commence our new series Nano – The Power of Small at Northshore Church, Mindarie 6:30pm at Mindarie Senior College.

Settling for what we see

In the book of Joshua, Achan was a soldier in the army of the Israelites whose sin caused great destruction to come upon his fellow soldiers. The Israelites were told to not take any plunder from the fall of Jericho, all except one obeyed – Achan.

The issue for Achan was firstly disobedience, but the clue to the sin beneath the sin was where Achan hid his plunder: his tent. By taking what he saw in front of him Achan settled for the short term, here and now reward and traded it for the bigger promises and eternal perspective of God.

Why was Achan still in his tent? Because the mission was not yet complete! There were more battles to fight; except that Achan sinned in settling for what he saw in front of him and not resolving to settle for only what God has promised.

It’s true we can fall into the same trap as Achan – settling for the here and now at the expense of the eternal. We too are tent-dwellers – men and women on God’s mission to take the life transforming truth of the gospel to those in our community around us. We hope you’ll join us.

Northshore Church, this Sunday, 6:30pm at Mindarie Senior College

Moving Forwards

As we enter July we are looking forward this Sunday towards where we’re headed as a church. We have a vision to be a blessing to our community, to love our community and to see our community transformed one person at a time.

Join us this Sunday and see where you can make a difference and be a part of our vision to bring change, hope and grace to those around us. We’ll see you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College for a great night together!

The Call to Worship

Jesus is seeking worshippers.

The danger is that we don’t come to Jesus as worshippers, but to church as consumers who put transaction ahead of relationship, my preferences over the needs of others. The sad reality is many do tis, forsaking the high calling Jesus has given them.

We resolve as a church to forsake a me-first approach to embrace the Call of Jesus Christ and the goal of making His name great in this city and community.

Join us this Sunday as we finish “The Call” with a look at how we can touch and impact our community with the good news of Jesus Christ. It will be a fantastic night. We’ll see you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

The Unlikely Call

Have you ever felt ill-equipped, unsuited, inadequate to do a job? It happens in life. In God’s kingdom however, if you’re stepping out in faith you can guarantee you’ll find yourself in an unlikely situation. We call this the Unlikely Call that was out theme last night.

Our desire is to be a church full of people who passionately, dangerously, faith-fully accept the unlikely call of Jesus. Even when the job seems to big, even when the call appears beyond us – we step out and trust God, who’s Spirit empower and equips to fulfil His purpose.

This Sunday, we continue The Call. We’d love for you to join the rest of God’s unlikely heroes at Northshore as we meet together to hear God’s Word and worship Jesus. It’ll be a great night. See you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

The Call continues...

Two weeks ago, we took time to seek God for breakthrough. Last week, we celebrated Pentecost Sunday and the Church’s Birthday. This Sunday at Northshore, we continue our series “The Call”.

As disciples of Jesus, we have been “called out of darkness and into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). When we turn from sin, to Jesus, we are heeding the call that God has for us. It is a high calling, a radical and dangerous calling, and a joyous calling.

Join us this Sunday as we continue to preach what it is to live in the Call of God. As always it promises to be great night. See you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

PS: Our podcast is back with last night’s message now online.

The Church's birthday

This Sunday, join us at Northshore for the Church’s birthday – Pentecost Sunday. Enjoy the worship, be challenged by the Word and join in the fun by wearing something RED – the colour of fire representing the events of Acts 2 and the birth of the church.

It promises to be a great night. See you at Northshore Church, 6:30pm Sunday at Mindarie Senior College.

Together we Breakthrough

This Sunday 28th May Northshore is holding a special service we’re calling Breakthru Sunday. We’re calling all Northshore-ites to join us as together we seek God for breakthru in our church, in our personal lives and in the community.

As part of this service we’re asking you commit to following 4 simple actions this week:
1. PRAY – put aside 15 mins each day to pray for breakthru
2. FAST – a day this week, or go without so other “necessity” to focus on God
3. WAIT – spend time each day in silence listening to the voice of God and hearing what He might be saying for your life, church, community
4. EXPECT – let’s all stir up an air of expectancy that God is going to do some great things in our midst!

Join us this Sunday at 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College, for Breakthru!

The Pedal's to the Metal

This week we are joined by Ps Mark Bateman. Ps Mark is the chaplain to the Australian V8 Supercars circuit and ministers to the drivers and crew all across the country. This is a great opportunity for your neighbours, family and friends to hear the gospel, so why not bring them along. We would love for you to join us this Sunday 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College, for a great night.

We’re a church that seeks to hear from and know God. Let’s bring a sense of expectation with us this week, church and be surprised by what God does amongst us! Have a great week.

Victory Continues!

After a great Easter service our theme of Victory continues this week at Northshore. Do you want victory in your life? Do you long to be on the winning team? Find out how this Sunday. Join us at 6:30pm, Mindarie Senior College, for a great night. See you then!

Note: we’re continuing to have some dramas with our podcast and MP3 sermons. Our apologies to anyone inconvenienced, we’re hoping to have it up and running smoothly again this week.

This week's special guest...

This Sunday we are joined by Ps Patrick Humberstone. Pat was instrumental in the planting of Northshore in his role as Church Planter for the AOG in WA. Pat is a great preacher of the gospel and will stir and challenge us in the weeks before Easter.

Join us this Sunday 6:30pm at Mindarie Senior College. It promises to be a wonderful night!
